As far as wingmen go, most of my buddies fly exclusively War Thunder still.

I have been playing War Thunder for quite some time now, and when playing air simulator battles, I have a tough time spotting enemy ground units, since they only seem to render at 800 m - 1 km distances. 
I’ve put up with a lot of crap from War Thunder over the years, but it’s possible that with patch 1. After those tweaks, play War Thunder again and see if the FPS improves.
